Academics

Math- Students have worked on word problems for multiplication and division. Students worked to create their own real-life situations that involve multiplication and division. Please encourage your child to memorize their multiplication and division facts up to 10x10=100. If you're looking for a challenge, have them memorize up to 12x12=144.

Reading- Students have been finding the main idea of a passage. They have been reading many books on myON about water, such as how it is cleaned.

Writing- Students have been working on All About books. They picked a topic they know all about. Then they write an introduction, 3 subtopic paragraphs, and a conclusion. We are using a planning packet to draft their writing. They are also editing with peers and the teacher. Next week we will type it on the computer.

Science- Students have learned where water comes from and where it goes after we use it. They investigated the water cycle by making a model with water condensing inside a bag. We have learned the steps of the water cycle. We have started talking about pollution and how different substances mix in water and how pollution can be invisible because it mixes with water.

History- In December, students will study the ancient Egyptian civilization.
